Low Back and Neck Pain Program

Impairments seen in people with Low Back and Neck Pain:

  • Reduced core trunk and neck stability

  • Reduced mobility of the spine

  • Pain during activities of daily life, sitting, standing, walking, or lying down

  • Decreased ability to work

  • Impaired walking (low back pain)

  • Weakness

  • Difficulty using arms (neck pain)








What can a physical therapist do for patients with low back pain?

  • Perform a Total Body Examination to access problems with Posture, Flexibility, Strength,  Movement, Nerve Function.

  • Design treatment plans to specifically address noted problem.

  • Teach patients how to help their body heal through sitting modification, standing, sleeping, and work postures.

  • Proper strength and flexibility exercises.

  • Good body mechanics with daily activity.

  • Maintain balance in their lives.

  • Provide access to short-term post rehab programs.

Program parameters:

  • 2-3 supervised visits per week for 3-6 weeks, 60 minute sessions

The program is covered by most insurance companies, subject to your policy’s deductible and co-pay requirements.

Interventions to include:

  • Thorough postural education/modification: Home/Work/Driving/Sitting/Sleeping

  • Body mechanics/Ergonomic education for work, home, and sports activities.

  • Hands-on pain relieving techniques with trigger point releases, joint mobilization, soft tissue mobilization, and myofascial release massage.

  • Core trunk and leg strengthening.

  • Other Pain/Spasm Relieving treatments as needed: Electrical muscle stimulation, Ultrasound, Traction, Iontophoresis, Heat, Ice, Pool Therapy
